Our dad was a man with a generous heart, a quick smile and he had a great, sarcastic sense of humor that he carried with him to the end. After a long period of declining health, he peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving, caring family.

Dad was originally from Clarkdale, Arizona. He and his brother, Fred, were drafted into the Army and sent to Europe. Dad was at D Day plus four as a runner in a light infantry unit, so they moved around a lot. He was small and quick which made him perfect for running messages back and forth between the front and headquarters. Eventually, he was wounded and then sent to England to be a driver.

Dad spent most of his life living in and around Ventura County but got his start in Saticoy. He spent his career working for Buenaventura Lemon Company, which became part of Sunkist. Dad started at the bottom and worked his way up to become House Foreman. I believe it’s safe to say he became indispensable. He took pride in being the one who implemented computer technology in the packing house system, so much so, that the company had him change over other packing houses to modernization. After 45 years, he retired and just walked away.

He and his wife, Santiaga (Jovita) traveled extensively for many years, often in the company of family members. He took care of his wife, children, grandchildren and yard as best he could. He loved the Dodgers to a fault.

He is survived by his wife, Santiaga (Jovita); brother, Fred Guerrero; and many cousins, nieces and nephews from California and Arizona; his children, Bob Guerrero of Reno, Nevada, Gilbert Guerrero of Texas, Pam Taylor of Yuba City, Ca., Patricia Knight of Roseville, Ca., John Guerrero of Surprise, Az. and Reynaldo & Lorraine Garza of Oxnard, Ca.; grandchildren, Marisa Killian, Jesse, Gilbert and Matt Guerrero, Eric Sinor, Kyle and Allison Taylor, Brooke Helmer, Julie Luna, Reynaldo “Popeye”, Lazaro, Carlos, Clarissa, Emily and Eric Garza.

Preceding him in death are his sons, Albert Guerrero and Jerry Garza; parents, Antonio and Petra Guerrero; sisters, Connie Guerrero and Lupe Alvarez and brother, Rico Guerrero.
