Annis Bridges Williams completed her journey through life Friday February 10th, 2017 in Ventura California. Annis died exactly as she wanted, in her own home as she always said she hoped to live to be ninety. She did not use medications of any sort. This along with a good diet, never using tobacco, plenty of exercise and fresh air left her free from illness and in extremely good health. She was a firm believer in keeping your mind and body active. She maintained her cheerful and alertness until she left us. Annis began her life journey June 11th, 1921 in Missouri and after the death of her Father in 1926. she came to Santa Paula with her Mother and Sisters, Beatrice Marjorie and Mary. Later her Mother re- married and a Sister Joan was born, 1940 Annis married Lawrence Williams. Soon after they moved to San Francisco. December ,1942she returned to Santa Paula when Lawrence entered World War II. From that time until the war ended she worked at the Port Huneme Naval Base. February ,1947 Lawrence Jr. ( Larry) was born. Annis gave him love and undivided attention. When Larry entered school , again she became employed. Annis worked over thirty years as Administrative Assistant for the Santa Paula school district working with seven superintendents, she retired June 1986.She possessed a remarkable memory and keen business sense. She was an independent woman, her strong will  and determination helped her deal with life's adversities with strength and wisdom. She was kind generous and loving. Always ready and willing to help family, friends and neighbors. She was admired even strangers would remark about her agility,alertness, fine taste in clothes and beautiful hair. Annis was a volunteer, she was a docent for the California Oil Museum and Santa Paula Memorial Hospital auxiliary member of Blanchard Library FLAIR program and a longtime member of the Santa Paula Ebell Club. She enjoyed her backyard with it's many trees and flowers. When she was at home, she could usually be found in her backyard tending to her flowers and wide assortment of orchids. Her attention to detail was expressed in the numerous pieces of antique furniture she refinished, coning chairs making wood broided rugs and last she attempted painting with oils. Annis enjoyed collecting antiques traveling, playing cards and TV game shows. She is preceded in death by her Husband Lawrence, August,  1977, son Larry October 1995, Sister Beatrice Hickerson, September, 1988 Sister Joan Fultz, October 1999. Annis enjoyed the companionship of her devoted best friend Harold L. Mears until his death , July 2001. She is survived by her sisters Marjorie Swarner, Glenn, CA. Several nieces and nephews. Cousins Richard and Tabia Rentfrow and Boris Grossi, Grapevive Tx and a long circle of extended family who will remember her. Memorial donations may be made to California Oil Museum 1101 E. Main Street, Santa Paula CA, 93060  and Santa Paula  Art Museum 117 N.10th St, Santa Paula Ca, 93060 . Services will be held on Monday February 20th ,2017 at 1:30pm Conejo Mountain Funeral Home Santa Rosa Chapel with burial to follow Conejo Mountain Memorial park.
