Welcome to the memorial page for

Carol June Bronow

January 1, 1940 ~ February 12, 2018 (age 78) 78 Years Old

January 1, 1940 – February 12, 2018. Carol Mumby Bronow, age 78, died peacefully and surrounded by her family on Monday, February 12, 2018, at Simi Valley Hospital. Carol was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Emanuel and Veronica (Hoy) Mumby. She was the youngest of three children.  At age 5, Carol’s family resettled in California.

Carol graduated from Morningside High School in Inglewood, California in 1957 and El Camino Junior College in Torrance, California in 1959. Her  first job was at Coast Federal Savings in downtown Los Angeles as a secretary. It was there that she met Paul Bronow and they married in 1962. They had three children and raised them in Chatsworth, California.  They divorced in 1978.

Carol returned to college and received a bachelor’s degree from Antioch University in 1981 and a Master of Arts in Social Science with a specialization in Marriage, Family & Child Therapy from Azusa Pacific University in 1983. She became a licensed Marriage, Family, and Child Counselor in 1986. She worked as a psychotherapist in private practice and as the Administrative Director of the San Fernando Counseling Center in Northridge, California for over 35 years.

Carol is survived by her three children, Angela Bronow Davanzo of Thousand Oaks, Jeff Bronow (Kimberly) of Ellicott City, MD, and Andrea den Dulk (Jim) of Folsom, CA, and their father Paul Bronow (Karen), of Westlake Village, CA; her six grandchildren, Anthony, Michelle, Samantha, Daniel, Reijer and Sophie; and her two sisters Betty Powell (David) and Sydney Smith (Lew Smith and Dick Rowe, both deceased); and was treasured by her many nieces and nephews and their families.

Carol had a smile that could light up a room. Few people can rival Carol’s fun-loving, playful nature.  She enjoyed games of all types from cards, to board games to games on her phone.  She also loved to read and work on puzzles. Earlier in her life she enjoyed traveling, visiting many places far and wide. Carol was a seeker and a listener and a counselor to many. She was a lover of animals, especially her cats. She will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 10 at the Conejo Mountain Funeral Home, 2052 Howard Road, in Camarillo. Relatives and friends are welcome to the service followed by a luncheon.
