Ann C. Russell

  Ann Carolyn Russell passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021 in Camarillo at age 89. She lived a long, fulfilling life as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. 

  Ann was born on September 8, 1931 in Mayfield, Kentucky to Durward Roston and Effie Ima Speight. She graduated from South Fulton High School in Fulton, Kentucky on May 20, 1949. After graduating, she married and moved to Pleasanton, California followed by Camarillo in 1962. Ann worked at Sears in the auditing department for 30 years before retiring in 1992. Slightly restless as she began retirement, she went on to work part-time at See’s Candy with some of her friends from Sears. She then returned to work full time, becoming the manager at the Camarillo Mobile Estates before retiring for the second time at age 85.

  Ann spent her free time volunteering with Friends of the Library and Pleasant Valley Hospital and was a member of the Compadres at the Camarillo Mobile Estates. There she enjoyed organizing holiday dinners, BBQs and weekly bingo, and cherished the many friends she made. She was a talented seamstress and especially enjoyed sewing costumes for the Los Primeros Drama Program in the 1990s as well as for other productions in which her granddaughters participated.  Ann loved traveling and shopping and among her favorite trips were with her daughter to London and wine tasting & antiquing in Oregon. Next to Christmas, Halloween was her favorite holiday and she never missed an opportunity to wear a crazy costume to work. She also loved having lunch at Eggs ‘N’ Things with family (always sharing a patty melt) and had been a loyal regular there since it opened.

  Ann was very close to and proud of her family and it was the most important part of her life. She attended every birthday, graduation, milestone and celebration with joy. It made her so happy to have most of her family close by, and she was blessed to live a long life enjoying these many special moments with them. 

  She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Andresen (Jared) and Duana Russell; granddaughters, Lindsay (Jase), Courtney (Tyler), Brittany (Sean); and great-grandsons, Jared and Charles.  Ann was predeceased by her father Durward Speight, mother Effie Croft and daughter Carol Russell.

  A celebration of Ann’s life is planned for Thursday, June 3, 2021, at 2:00 p.m.,at the Chapel of the Hills-Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Road, Camarillo. Per California guidelines masks and social distancing requirement apply.
