Clara Hyde

Clara Pauline Hyde of Somis, California,  born June 25, 1920 in Bolivar, Missouri passed away peacefully at the age of 99 on January 3, 2020 in Camarillo California.
 Clara  moved from the Midwest region with husband Robert H. Brown to Ventura County, California in 1940  where her son, Jerry L. Brown was later born. In September 1950, Clara remarried to Ventura County resident, Frank W. Hyde, of Mountain Grove, Missouri. Frank & Clara Hyde were  married 61 years.  

CIara began working as a child of the depression on the family farm with her nine siblings, there she developed a strong work ethic. She held several jobs and even tried her hand at running a restaurant. She worked at both of Ventura County’s military bases and ultimately retired after completing 25 years of public service at Point Mugu Naval Air Station in data processing where she began as a  keypunch operator and finished as a supervisor.
Clara was an exceptional business woman in an era where she was ahead of her time. She leased equipment and opened her own school to teach people how to run data processing equipment with the moto ‘There is no substitute for accuracy” . Clara balanced the roles of wife, mother, career  and business owner.  She had an entrepreneurial spirit and wanted to achieve her goals and sought another that would form the basis of a good partnership. .  She had a formidable partner in her marriage with Frank Hyde. she played an integral role in the couples real estate holdings and equestrian businesses. At the height of their real estate investments, the Hyde’s managed a large swath of homes from Ventura to the Nyeland Acres district of Oxnard, California. In 1977, the Hyde’s moved to Somis, California where they expanded their equestrian business.  

She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served in several leadership capacities and offices. She was particularly pleased to be asked to serve at the stations of  Esther and Ruth. She was honored to be Elected to the line and lead the chapter as the Worthy Matron alongside her grandson, Bob J. Brown, who served as Worthy Patron.  

Clara had an animated character with an uncanny wit about her. She had a radiant personality and humor that brought light to any conversation.  Often donned in the finest regala and glamorous ensemble, Clara commanded a magnetizing presence wherever she went. Clara used her wit, piety and presence to bring people together and create a lasting legacy. 

Clara was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, as well as a great-great grandmother. She was a central figure in each generation and developed deep personal connections with each member of her large family network.
 Clara is preceded in death by former husband Robert H. Brown and late husband Frank W. Hyde, her sons Jerry L. Brown and Wayne Hyde, and all of nine of her siblings. Clara is survived by son daughters-in-law Lynn Brown and Barbara J. Manson, son Barry Hyde and spouse Barbie Hyde, grandchildren Bob J. Brown and spouse Dan K.Brown, Collette P. Moran and spouse Fernando I. Moran, Stephanie K. Perdue and spouse David Perdue, Michael Manson Jr., Tamara Young and spouse Jay Young, Barbara Massey, Becky Pritchett, Eric Pritchett, Dennis Hyde and spouse Julie Hyde;  great grandchildren Lisa Moran, Danielle N. Deleon-Guerrero, Sarah M. Martin and spouse Aaron C. Martin, Kyle Hyde & Brin Hyde in addition to great-great grandchildren Evelynn B. Harvey and Scarlett C. Harvey as well as many more extended family. 

Clara was placed to rest on January 24, 2020 at Conejo Mountain Funeral Home and Memorial Park surrounded by family and friends.
