David Gary Logan, born in Syracuse NY in 1938. He passed away on June 24, 2019.
Dave’s family moved from New York to Wethersfield, Connecticut where he would spend his youth. When Dave was 15, his mother passed away. At an early age, he began caddying at the Wethersfield Country Club (formerly host of the Insurance City Open). That led to a passion for golf that remained all through his life. Moving to California at age 18, with nothing but hope for a different life, Dave matured into a person who was independent, full of strength and character that would immediately make a lasting impression upon everyone he encountered.
As a husband, a father and a grandfather, he allowed nothing to gain more importance in his life than his family. At the same time, he managed to develop a successful business as a contract manufacturer in the medical device industry. With his great personality and work ethic he was respected by all. A true gentleman, he was always true to himself.
Dave was the definition of a people person. One of his most lovable traits was his priceless sense of humor. Witty and ironic, his quick quips made it clear that he had creative talents. Never at a loss for words, he loved to pontificate on politics, golf, business and current events. Dave was an astonishing human being, even in his waning, difficult days.
In addition to Joan, his wife of 55 years, Dave is survived by two older brothers, Robert and George, a younger sister, Wendy, three children, Kevin, Lori and Kari, and four grandchildren, Brock, Logan, Cade and Thomas.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 on July 8, 2019 at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park at 2052 Howard Road, Camarillo, 93012. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David’s name to Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurses and Hospice Association at 1996 Eastman Ave., Suite 101, Ventura CA 93003 (see link below).
Remember Me
Fill not your hearts with pain and sorrow,
but remember me in every tomorrow.
Remember the joy, the laughter, the smiles,
I've only gone to rest a little while.
Although my leaving causes pain and grief,
my going has eased my hurt and given me relief.
So dry your eyes and remember me,
not as I am now, but as I used to be.
Because I will remember you all and look on with a smile.
Understand, in your hearts, I've only gone to rest a little while.
As long as I have the love of each of you,
I can live my life in the hearts of all of you.
THE GOLF COURSE IN THE SKY
As eighteen flags flew at half mast, and
Glasses were soberly raised high
The latest member was having a ball
At the golf course in the sky
Freed from the gravity of the situation
The first tee shot soared through space
Bringing a wondrous, beaming smile
To a kind, down to earth face
Surrounded by old club friends
Once thought never to be seen again
The infinity course beckoned ahead
Eighteen holes were for mere mortal men
