Dolly Lee Heard

Tribute

  Heavenly Father welcomed Dolly Lee (Ehret) Heard into his kingdom peacefully from her home on February 24, 2021.  Born December 25th in Southgate (LA) California as the first child of mother Gene Irettta and Theodore George Ehret, they called her their Christmas Doll.  Dolly's early years were spent on a farm in Rowland Heights where she loved her horses.  A graduate of La Puente High and Occidental College she landed a coveted position as a legal secretary in Downtown LA.  

  Marrying the love of her life Melvin J Heard in December of 1956, the two embarked on a lifelong adventure, recently celebrating 65 years of marriage.  Their early married years were spent in Las Vegas, but they soon made the decision to return to Southern California, settling in Diamond Bar.

  Most of Dolly's career was spent as the school secretary of Suzanne Intermediate School in Walnut. Upon retirement, she and Mel enjoyed traveling in their RV and took several cruises.

  Talented at quilting, doll making, and as a seamstress, she won awards for her needlework and was known for her artistry.  She was also an avid reader and loved spending time with her family.

  Surviving Dolly are her husband Melvin J Heard, her brother Theodore George Ehret and his wife Barbara, children Michael Heard, Melanie (Heard) Fekete and husband Steve, Russell Heard and wife Sher and Patrick Heard wife Christine, as well as 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren with one on the way and her dog Shiloh.

  A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021, 10:00 AM, Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Road, Camarillo, CA 93012.
