Doris June Hughes

On September 23rd, 2019 Doris Hughes passed away peacefully surrounded by family at UCLA medical center, after a long fight with pulmonary hypertension and congestive heart failure.

She is survived by her husband, James W Hughes; Son' James Keith Hughes; Daughter in Law, Tina Hughes; Daughter, Gennia Hughes; Granddaughters: Melissa Tejeda (Mike), Michelle Hughes (Miguel Moreno),Kayla Denny (Shaun), Great-Grandchildren Jazlynn, Brooklynn, Maleah, Katilyn, Matthew, Ryder, Bentley, Mason, Sister Margaret Dickerson, Brother Rusty Cody(Annie) and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother Velma Cody, Father Jim Cody, Brother Dan Cody, and her dogs Benji and Angel. She was born at home in Bolder Springs, Oklahoma on April 24, 1939 to Velma and Jim Cody.

In 1957 she met James while he was in the Navy. A year later they got married in Ventura, CA. In 1959 they were blessed with their first child James Keith, then 18 months later their daughter Gennia.

They bought their first home in 1964 in Ventura. That they would make many lasting memories with family and friends. She loved planting flowers and vegetables in their garden. Her favorite flower is an orchid.

She enjoyed going to the orchid nursey in Carpinteria, Ca. She loved spending time with her family especially her Great-Grandchildren they were her pride and joy.
