Eli Tanega Lubag passed away peacefully on the morning of November 29, 2020. Eli was a dedicated husband, loving father, admiring grandfather "Papa", friendly neighbor, and loyal friend.
Eli was born on August 26, 1934 in San Roque, Naic Cavite, Philippines. The second youngest of nine siblings, Eli followed his older brother, Opong, in enlisting in the United States Navy in search for a better life for his family and siblings. His service in the Navy took him on an adventure around the world, to include service in the Vietnam War.
In retirement, Eli's passion for service and work ethic continued as he began work for the Pleasant Valley Parks and Recreation Department, in which he broke ground for the Valle Lindo Park in Camarillo. As a proud member of the Anacapa Masonic Lodge No. 710, Eli was elected to the position of Worshipful Master in 1988 and continued involvement as a Past Master.
Eli spent his golden years fishing with his grandchildren, tending to his garden and many fruit trees, and happily greeting children across the street at Cape Charter School (formerly Valle Lindo Elementary), where his children, and eventually grandchildren attended.
Eli is survived by his wife of 60 years, Teresita; daughters, Elsie (Steve) Adler, Ellen (Jeff) Mason, son, Eric (Melody) Lubag; grandchildren, Derek DeCastro, Nikolas Adler, Ryan Mason, Cameron Lubag, and Gavin Lubag.
Eli will rest at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, and a private service will be held. Please visit https://www.conejomountain.com/tributes/Eli-Lubag to leave condolences and tributes in his memory.
