Gladys June Johnson

June 11, 1935 ~ May 31, 2023 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Tribute

Gladys June Johnson went home to be with her husband in Heaven on May 31, 2023, from a long battle with cancer.

June is survived by her sons, Richard Johnson and Keith Johnson, and daughters Natalie Leseberg and Lisa Wilds. Her Son in Laws include Richard Leseberg and Johnny Wilds, and Daughter in Law, Cheryl Johnson. June always loved her six grandchildren, including Richard Paul Jr. (and his wife, Cat); Amber (and her husband, Sam); Nicholas, Gabriel, Lanie; and, Drew; along with two great-grandchildren, Mylee and Richard Paul the 3rd (i.e., Richie). Mom was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Johnson.

Mom was a fourth-generation Californian, having been raised in Somis, Camarillo; and later on, in Oxnard. After getting married, Mom and Dad moved to Oak View, and later moved to their home in Ventura and resided there for over 50 years. Mom loved the Rams, the Dodgers, Notre Dame, and boxing, while also being an avid gambler. This included always finding a casino when she would be with family, whether it was in Las Vegas, Laughlin, or the various casinos here in Southern California. Mom knew how to have a good time. June has traveled around the world several times and also loved to go on cruise ships and sail the open seas.

This amazing Mom was a support to all of her family. She always loved each and every one of her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, and in-laws. Mom had an open-door policy for anyone that came to her house and was called “MOM” by countless people whose lives she touched. She was a shining light to everyone she met and a true warrior fighting the cancer that eventually caused her passing. Mom spent a number of years with the TDC of Ventura County while also having worked in the aerospace and banking industries. Mom will be missed by so many. Tears will be shed, while life has taken a drastic turn for all who knew her. But Mom is now in a better place than she was, and she is now dancing the jitterbug with Dad. While Mom's star here on Earth may have vanished, her star in Heaven is now shining as bright as can be; and we know, if we look up to the sky and dream, we can see that star and remember Mom, June, as she will always be here with us. We love you beyond forever, Mom. May you now rest in peace.
