Marilyn J. Magnuson

Marilyn Joan Magnuson was born October 14, 1929, in Glendale, California. She was called home April 5, 2021, with her daughter Jan by her side. 

Marilyn graduated from Canoga Park High School and Biola University.  She attended Eagle Rock Covenant Church where she met Vernon Magnuson. They married in 1950. Vern and Marilyn raised four children in Gardena, California until 1963 when they moved to Rancho Palos Verdes and were faithful members of Rolling Hills Covenant Church.  In 1974, they finally relocated to Thousand Oaks, attending Simi Covenant Church. Marilyn and Vern divorced in 1989 but remained friends until his death in 2013.

Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, neighbor, and friend.  She had a special talent for working with her hands and was an accomplished seamstress.  She later enjoyed crocheting and oil painting, and she went on to create many beautiful paintings that now hang in her children’s homes.

Marilyn deeply loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her greatest joy was spending time with them and supporting and encouraging them.  She also loved her church and was very active in Women’s ministries, becoming President of Covenant Women in California.  She actively supported Alpine Covenant Conference Center through her work with Alpine Attic. Marilyn also enjoyed traveling with family and friends, taking several trips to Europe, cruises to Alaska and Hawaii, and road trips across the United States.

Marilyn is survived by her four children: Janice Magnuson, Susan Vincent, Donald Magnuson, D.D.S., Sharon (Georges) Geller; six grandchildren: Brooklyn (Joe) Raymond, Brendan (Tawnee Eddy) Thorson, Kelsey Geller, Kirsten Magnuson, Karl Magnuson, Declan Vincent; and two great-grandchildren: Jackson Raymond and Calliope Raymond.  Marilyn is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Monday, April 26, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Road, Camarillo, CA 93012.  Please follow all CDC guidelines for COVID-19 protections.
