Tribute

Marlene Ann Dickenson passed away in her sleep on Jan 21, 2019 at her family home.

Born Nov 16, 1931 to Harold and Marjorie Dickenson, Marlene spent her young childhood years in Anaheim. Her family soon, though, moved to Newport Beach and then Laguna Beach. She owned and operated Chula Bail Bonds in Newport for 12 very successful years. Marlene eventually relocated to Camarillo in order to care for her aging parents and became a longtime resident of 40 years.

Marlene loved everything about the beach: the water, the shells, the solitude, walking along the tide lines and simply being at peace. Gardening was a passion: planting the seed, removing the weeds, collecting the fruit and then sharing, as was traveling: Europe, Hawaii, Tahiti, Micronesia, Fiji. Mom shared everything in her life, especially her time and her love. She loved ALL unconditionally and was a great listener. She deeply loved her boys, Steve and George.

Marlene is preceded in death by her son, George H. Chula; her parents; and her brother, Harold "Bud" Dickenson. She is survived her son, Stephen L. Spencer; daughter-in-law, Weeraya Spencer; grandchildren, Amy Lynn Herbst Calhoun and David J. Spencer from Texas; and great grandchildren, Christopher, Austin, Jordan, Riley and Madison.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sat, Feb 2, 2019 at 2:30pm in the Chapel of the Valley at Conejo Mountain Funeral Home in Camarillo.
