Ronald Dean Boogren, age 89, died May 22, 2023. He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on May 3, 1934, to Russell Arthur Boogren, Sr., and Drusilla Grace Henderson. Graduated from Johnson High School, St. Paul and joined the United States Air Force (USAF) and graduated on the 23rd of February, 1956.
In 1957, Ron left the military service to join Capital Airlines which later merged with United Airlines. He earned the rank of Captain in both the USAF and United Airlines. He retired in 1994, but his passion for flying continued to be flying single-engine aircraft. Other interests were golfing, traveling in his RV, and collecting and restoring antique clocks, but golfing was his passion.
He is survived by his children, Mark and Gloria Boogren, Jaymi and William Victor and their children(Kendall, Collin, Quentin, and Cameron) Nancy Walther and her children: (Christopher, Wyatt, and Weston) and the Johannessen family (Fred, and Tammy, and their children (Christian) and Samantha), grandchildren (Max and Rex), and August Gorm and Alba and their children (Jacob, Nydia, and Erik)Ron married twice, first with Arlys Krueger, his high school sweetheart.
Due to his work with United Airlines, they moved to and resided for over 50 years in Camarillo, California. After retiring from United Airlines, he continued to enjoyed golfing, flying, and RV cruising with Arlys. Their 54-year, marriage ended when Arlys died in 2009. Ron found love again and in 2013 and married Gloria Johannessen (Glorita).
While he continued his passion for golf and in the first 7 years of marriage, they explored the world. They traveled to Latin America, Europe, Africa, and Australia, either for fun or due to her professional commitments. Unfortunately, at the end of 2018, their life was disrupted when he was diagnosed with aphasia, a disorder affecting language communication. By 2021, the progression of this disorder left Ron with no ability to communicate. Glorita remained at his side up until the end“Ron was loved by many and he loved all”.
The strength of his character was acknowledged by those who became in touch with him as captain, family, friend, or acquaintance. If someone pointed out his remarkable way of relating to others, typically someone would say, “who wouldn’t love him?”. United Airlines also commented on the strength of his character in his evaluations, “Ron has an easy-going courteous manner, stable, well controlled, and very considerate.”
Ron will be remembered for his good-nature, kindness, and unequaled generosity of others.”
