Ruby Lee Slate

Ruby Lee Slate (Plemmons), born in Magazine, Arkansas on March 26,1930 to Essie Brewster and Charles Garland Plemmons, died in the early hours of November 30, 2020. 

Ruby came to California when she was 13. She attended Oxnard Union High School. Ruby met Fred Slate at the age of 15 and they were married in 1946. Fred and Ruby had three children, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. 

Ruby worked as a school cafeteria cook in the Rio School District and 20 plus years in the Oxnard Union High School District at Camarillo High.

Ruby had many interests: cake decorating, gardening, jewelry making, flower arranging and collecting and displaying Christmas Villages. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband Fred who died in 1987. She is survived by her three children: Virginia Slate, Donald Slate (Alanna) and Helen Conn. Also by her grandchildren: Brian Conn (Elaine), Mary Slate, Patrick Slate (Noma) and Michael Conn (Susan) and by her great grandchildren Brianna Marin Conn, Noah Conn, Leilani Conn and Malokai Conn.
